WORK VISAS
Thanks to Canada’s thriving economy, aging workforce, and relatively low population density, the country offers abundant opportunities for skilled foreign workers and professionals. Unlike many other developed nations, Canada actively welcomes global talent through a variety of work visa programs designed to strengthen its workforce and drive economic growth.
Each year, thousands of skilled immigrants and their families relocate to Canada through temporary work permits or permanent residency pathways. Whether you seek short-term employment or long-term settlement, our ICCRC-certified immigration consultants will assess your eligibility, guide you through the best visa options, and streamline your application process for success.
EXPRESS ENTRY
Canada’s Express Entry (EE) system is a fast-track immigration pathway designed to attract and select skilled workers based on their ability to contribute to the country’s economy. Introduced in January 2015, this digital system prioritizes candidates with in-demand skills, education, and work experience, reducing processing times from years to just six months or less for successful applicants.
Express Entry manages applications for three key federal economic immigration programs:
-
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) – For professionals with skilled work experience and education.
-
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) – For qualified tradespeople in fields like construction, manufacturing, and agriculture.
-
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – For temporary foreign workers or international graduates with Canadian work experience.
How Express Entry Works
The system operates on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which scores candidates based on:
-
Age (preference for applicants aged 20-35)
-
Education (higher points for Canadian degrees or equivalent foreign credentials)
-
Work Experience (skilled, full-time experience preferred)
-
Language Proficiency (English/French test scores – IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF)
-
Adaptability (Canadian job offer, provincial nomination, or family ties boost scores)
Top-ranking candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. Additionally, Canadian employers can access the Express Entry pool to recruit foreign talent, offering job-supported immigration for candidates with pre-arranged employment.
Provinces and territories also use Express Entry-linked Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) to select candidates who meet regional labor needs, further increasing chances of permanent residency.
PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS (PNPs)
Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows provinces and territories to nominate immigrants who meet local economic demands. With 12 out of 13 provinces and territories participating, PNPs offer tailored pathways for workers, entrepreneurs, and international graduates.
Key Benefits of PNPs:
-
Faster processing compared to some federal streams.
-
Lower CRS requirements – Ideal for candidates who may not qualify for Express Entry directly.
-
Targeted occupations – Provinces prioritize in-demand fields (e.g., healthcare, tech, trades).
Popular PNP Streams (2024 Updates):
-
Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) – Tech Draws, Skilled Trades, and International Student streams.
-
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) – Tech Pilot, Healthcare, and Express Entry BC.
-
Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) – Accelerated Tech Pathway and Rural Renewal Stream.
-
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) – Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education Stream.
-
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) – Employer-driven pathway for Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland).
Since 2015, most provinces have introduced Express Entry-aligned PNPs, allowing candidates in the EE pool to receive additional 600 CRS points with a provincial nomination—guaranteeing an ITA.
TEMPORARY WORK PERMITS
For those not yet ready for permanent residency, Canada offers temporary work visas, including:
-
Employer-Specific Work Permits (job offer required)
-
International Experience Canada (IEC) – For youth (18-35) from visa-exempt countries.
-
Global Talent Stream (GTS) – Fast-track permits for tech professionals.
-
Caregiver Programs – Pathways for home support workers.
Many temporary workers later transition to permanent residency through Express Entry or PNPs.
